Checking shower heads for spiders after watching Arachnophobia? PREACH. I was twelve. I still have nightmares . . . .

I really loved your essay. I tried to watch the show years ago and could not get into it, nor could I understand what others loved. Your essay has inspired me to try again and view it from another perspective.

Thank you Rhea 🧡. Let me be clear here, The Office is still the best 😂.

I feel like we could be show buddies. Are you more of an Angela or a Pam? Does it depend on the day?

Ooo Abigail, I like this game. I’m a Pam, but I’m way so I have to say have the essence of Meredith w/o the drinking and “favors” 😂. You?

Also, are you a Parks and Rec fan????

Oh, Meredith! LOOOooove it. I'm a Pam with a strong Angela (or sometimes Dwight) streak thanks to my annoying inner fundy (thanks, indy Baptist school past).

You know, I need to try Parks and Rec again. I came to it AFTER binging all of the Office and only made it through the first season. The Office was my go-to post-partum series after each of my kids, except the last one because I was mid-way through Superstore at that point.

How about Brooklyn 99 or Community? Better Off Ted?

No to those three, I had limited time while being a very righteous missionary ;-). Which one should I start with? Independent Baptist school?? Me too! You might be triggered by my next post. 😳

Thanks for the warning. <3

Very Righteous Missionary??!! Me too. It was after the Arachnaphobia viewing. From the mid-90s until college, I pretty much only watched Touched by an Angel, Christy (including the extra made for TV movies without Kellie Martin), and Promised Land (early Christian Nationalism vibes . . . sorta).

Ok, hmm. Probably depends on which platform you currently have. We only do one at a time. Better Off Ted isn't included free anywhere sadly, but try your library? If you have Peacock, then watch Community, followed by Brooklyn 99. If you have Netflix, you can watch the first 4 seasons of Brooklyn 99. Prime has some of these. If you've got Paramount, well, just binge Ghosts (US version), and Strange New Worlds (if you like sci-fi, which I do). If you're just stuck with Disney, well, um, no comment ;)

If you have all the platforms, I recommend you watch in chronological order: Better Off Ted, Community, then Brooklyn 99. Superstore was hit or miss for me, but also worthwhile. They were (usually) kinder to their resident evangelical.

If I'm ranking: Office, Brooklyn 99 (tie for 2nd) Better Off Ted (tie for 2nd), Community, Superstore.

Now I'm going to give Parks and Rec (and also Schitts Creek) a try. :)
