Asking for Prayers
My son needs them.
My son Malachi is sick with the common cold. This is his third illness in two months, so that means this is my whole family's third illness. The previous two times were the flu B and norovirus. Though miserable, these illnesses can be overcome for the common person. For Malachi, who has spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy, these illnesses linger. Not only do they last longer, but he can’t really do anything to care for himself; we help him with most movements. So imagine not being able to ever roll over properly. Now imagine someone caring for you when you are very sick and can’t move. It’s miserable. And in the past two months, we’ve had more sick days than well days.
My husband and I take turns sleeping in his room when he is sick so we can be available at a moment's notice. With this cold, he is up multiple times per night from coughing fits or needing to be repositioned—sometimes he coughs so hard he empties his stomach. We would do anything for him, of course, and we are all exhausted. Malachi has concluded his days in tears because he is so tired of coughing. His poor body just can’t keep up.
I rarely write about my son for privacy reasons; however, I’m coming to you today to request prayer for him if you are a praying person. Please pray for his healing. Pray for his heart. Pray that his suffering would ease. Pray that he will get a break from illness. Pray for our hearts as parents. Up until this year, besides his CP, Malachi has been relatively healthy. He’s had a rough year with illness. We knew that as he aged, his health issues would increase—this is really difficult.
Please pray for my son.

I am praying for all these things.
Oh, Mel. Praying for each of you. Thank you for sharing these requests with us. Hugs to all of you. xoxo
